Tony Zamora-Kershaw

Antonio ‘Tony’ Zamora-Kershaw was born and raised in Corpus Christi.

He graduated from Moody High School and was heavily involved in their music program (band, choir, played piano).  He went to a Catholic seminary and majored in theology and philosophy.  While in seminary, Tony became ill and had to step down.  The church needed a music director so Tony stepped into this opportunity.

He has served in St Patrick Elementary musically and helped write the music curriculum for the Corpus Christi Diocese.  He also worked at John Paul High School as the band director, orchestra director and choir director.

Even prior to his working years Tony was influenced and involved with music.  His mother was his first music teacher. The whole family would sing every night after dinner with his father playing the guitar.  One of his brothers is a famous Tejano  singer and another is a songwriter.

Tony and his husband Ray were married 3 years ago here at St Paul and have been together for 10 years. Besides music, Tony enjoys watching TV, visiting with friends and BBQ.  Tony is also an ordained minister with the United Church of Christ.

So now Tony  tries to welcome all people and love them.  The walking wounded are often ashamed but God loves them even more, he says.
